I love the way the monster’s jaw drops after he’s hit with a club.
Well that’s because those are Jim Henson’s muppets this was before Kermit the Frog and other well known muppets came on the scene
I love the last one!
These commercials were produced from 1957 – 1961 by a Washington, DC ad agency called Kal, Ehrlich, Merrick. In 1987, I was Asst. Creative Director at Ehrlich-Manes Advertising – an agency that Alvin Ehrlich started after leaving Kal, Ehrlich, Merrick. Wilkins Coffee was still one of Alvin’s accounts and I had the great fortune to work on some NEW Wilkins Coffee commercials that year.
This, in my opinion, made the Muppets THE MUPPETS.
I have a strange craving for coffee now… Strange isn’t it? Whatever happened to Wilkins Coffee anyway?

These two are hilarious, it’s hard to believe that these two were what started the Muppet franchise!! I’m so glad Jim Henson created these guys!!

its a drink some people wake up with,
that it makes them nervous is no myth,
slaves to a coffee cup,
they can’t give coffee up!
Anyone here remember a giant Kermit sitting on top of an equally giant can of Wilkins Coffee on the roof of the Wilkins roasting plant over on Rhode Island Ave., N.E.? The whole neighborhood smelled of roasting coffee beans.
The plant is long gone. The Metro stations is right above that location today.
